We recognise that our employees are the key to our success and we make it our priority to value them.
Our family-based culture enables us to create a strong, supportive and successful team, ensuring everyone is motivated, developed, respected and rewarded for their contribution and commitment. In an average day we have just over 1,600 people on our sites or at head office, of which over 300 are directly employed and the remainder are employed by our subcontractor partners.
Last year 25% of our people were new to the company and we expect to continue to grow.
Even with this rate of growth we have been able to retain our unique culture as it is based on some core people values that run through the business and are now included as a core element of our induction, appraisal and performance processes. These people values can be seen in this graphic below.
Our workforce is diverse, and our behaviours enable us to drive performance in a consistent way across the business. We carried out our third employee satisfaction survey in 2018 and the results can be seen below.
These results truly reflect how hard we strive to create a great place to work. We listen to our people and act upon their suggestions to enhance their working lives at Telford Homes. As a result, we recently launched a Loyalty Award Scheme amongst other initiatives. We also now have a superb break-out space in our Head Office which has informal meeting and social space, a kitchen, together with a PS4, pool table, darts and outdoor space.
