City North shortlisted for British Home Award

Telford Homes’ and the Business Design Centre Group’s (BDCG) City North development has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Regeneration Scheme’ category at this year’s British Home Awards.

The development beat strong competition to be shortlisted for the prestigious award, with judges impressed by the scheme’s commitment to high quality placemaking in the Finsbury Park area.

City North is the most significant mixed-use development in Finsbury Park for a generation - delivering new mixed-tenure homes, a new tube station entrance and leisure amenities including a cinema, gym and restaurants. The development provides a new focal point and public space for the area.

In addition to providing much needed new homes, Telford Homes and BDCG has committed to significant investments in improving the local area through cleanliness, new signposting and public art installations.

Judges also commended the investment in the local community. The development will create over 400 new jobs in the area via its new commercial space, and the site team has worked closely with local traders to integrate into the community from attending regular trade association meetings, supporting local events and businesses and taking part in projects such as assisting in renovating the grounds of St Saviour’s church:

“Telford's generosity towards us is extraordinary, enabling a new and unique green space to be opened up in the heart of the area. We literally couldn't have got started without them and now, because of that initial help, are looking to open up a space not used for 22 years, for the benefit of the church and local community.”

The winners will be announced at an award ceremony in October.
